Technology – Architecture Lesson Plan

Architectural Symbols.

Blue Print

The architect-symbols are like a vocabulary to communicate between the designer (an architect) and the reader (a builder)of the Blue print.

Blue print is refered back to the past when architects used blue coloured paper to draw their design onto it. In mordern world it became out-dated term as it is not necessary to be a blue coloured paper anymore but any papers or even on a computer.
Imagine that a tourist in a foreign land did not study a single word before visit and lost in the middle of nowhere.
How he/she can get help from the local? (maybe body-language in reallife though)
In this sense, it is crucial to understand the meaning of architectural symbols so that the builders have the same interpretation as the architects do and have works done in a way what it originally meant to be.
Therefore in this webquest student of year 8 will explore about architectural symbols.
